Traditional Metal Braces · Proven & Affordable

Traditional Metal Braces refined for comfort.

Modern metal braces are smaller, lower-profile, and more comfortable than the braces of a generation ago. They remain a highly effective and affordable option for comprehensive orthodontic treatment.

Why metal braces remain a first-line choice

Stainless-steel brackets and archwires give predictable, efficient tooth movement. For complex bite corrections, severe crowding, or cases requiring precise rotation control, metal braces are often the most suitable option — and frequently the most cost-effective.

Comfortable, refined hardware

Modern stainless-steel brackets are smaller and lower-profile than the braces of a generation ago. We hold the wire with elastic modules — and patients who'd prefer a discreet look can choose clear modules instead of coloured ones.

Coloured elastics — your call

The elastic modules around the brackets come in every colour. Teen patients love changing them at each appointment; adult patients usually choose clear or grey. School colours are a popular choice.

FAQs · Traditional Metal Braces

Questions we hear most.

Do metal braces hurt?+

There's a 3–5 day adjustment period when braces are first fitted, and mild tenderness for a day or two after each appointment. Over-the-counter pain relief covers it. Most patients say it's significantly less than they expected.

How long is treatment?+

Comprehensive cases run 18 to 24 months. Mild cases can finish in 12 months. The plan you receive at consultation gives you the exact range for your situation.

What can I eat?+

Most things. Avoid very hard foods (whole apples, nuts in shells, hard lollies) and very sticky foods (caramel, certain chewing gums). We provide a full list at fitting.
